I see there is a note that access to the vintage pictures is free for members. Is this new? I was thinking I had to pay a fee to see them. Clarification appreciated. Thanks

The images in the Members Only section at
http://norvapics.com/board/viewforum.php?f=8
are free for Message Board members. The 4,000+ images in the archives require a contribution to access. More info about that section here:

Thanks as always for your patronage,

Thanks for the clarification. Seems like there's not as robust a presence since the format changed. Wonder what's up with that. T

T.,

It's true. It happened on all of the boards that I moved to this format. The primary difference is that with the old software anyone, including spammers, could swing by and make a post without registering. The hits for all 3 sites that use this software continue to go up but the board activity is very slow. It's also historically slow at the start of Autumn so let's hope it gets sassy again in a few weeks.

Thanks as always for coming around,

DT

Interesting. I remember you had a devil of a time creating all those filters for spammers in the last format

They were and still are relentless. They easily waste 4 hours of my time every week. We need to create a new holiday that is celebrated every year by dancing around a roaring fire fed by their loathsome carcasses.

I'm in! It's probably the same folks that send the spam spelling Viagra and Cialis every way known to man. Every time I create a rule using the new variation...they change it. Those folks need to roast...I'll bring the marshmallows and a fire suit

Since you got guys brought it up and we ARE into reminiscing...

What I liked about the old board was that there was but 1 category. Topics were random & jumbled. Threads often morphed way off of the original theme & even got a little testy at times. You never new what you would find or how a conversation would turn - I loved that. There was kind of an edge to it. Somethings are better organized & some not so much.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for your efforts Don.

Mike

Mike,

Thanks for chiming in. How would you like to see the categories on the current boards changed?

Thanks as always for your patronage,

now this is just me...but I wouldn't mind consolidating Gen Memories, Military, Music/Media, Places, and Current Happenings all into one category. Current Happenings, if they are really current, shouldn't get buried too far down the list before they pass (come due) & they would help to keep this broad category active.

I suppose you could leave a sep categories for Looking For, Archive, Members.

Just my thought, I may not be representative of the desired population though.

Thank you, Sir. Let's see if anyone else has anything to add to your suggestion. I'm not opposed to consolidating any of the forums if it makes people happy.
