I want to thank everyone who turned out on Sunday 8-13 for the "Lizard King Was Here" lecture-book signing. St. Elmo's Coffee Pub was filled to capacity and all 80+ books I brought with me were sold. I'm very sorry for those who were turned away and were not able to purchase books on the premises. It was an absolutely amazing afternoon - one of the best times I've ever had. I also want to extend my thanks to Nora Partlow (St. Elmo's energetic owner) for making it happen, the local papers that covered the event (Alexandria Gazette, Alexandria Times, Old Town Crier), the White Whale New Orleans Band (for providng great music), and my "road crew" of Art "Lobo" Wray, Nancy Femrite, and Julie Ward.

Alexandria is JIM MORRISON COUNTRY!

We'll be doing it again in Greenbelt, Maryland at the New Deal Cafe on Sunday, September 17th. For additional info, go to www.capitolrock.com and click on "Appearances."
Thanks, Mark Opsasnick.

Back in the 60's where St Elmo's is now it was a little market (store) with wooden floors. I think the USPS is still there on Howell and next to that use to be the Dime Store...
